About Codex App and CLI

Let's already admit to ourselves that agents in terminals are not the pinnacle of evolution, but a temporary solution from the Claude Code team that accidentally became an industry standard. Humanity has been gravitating toward GUIs for the past 40 years clearly not for no reason, and now we'll smoothly spiral back to it.

Perhaps it was needed to move fast at the very beginning, but now the CC folks are at the stage where they talk about how they can't fix flickers. Like, it's gotten difficult. They tell about how they've written almost a game engine in React. They vibe-coded a rocket-powered bicycle to spin these buildings inside the terminal, and it somehow works poorly. Surprising.

And in this regard I'm really excited that OpenAI released their latest Codex yesterday. The naming — my respect, but I think ideologically this is exactly it. What we need. An application for orchestrating running agents, each working in its own isolated environment — how great is that. You watch over all of them, push them along, switch between them, don't lose context on the others.

There are plenty of downsides at launch, of course, but I like the direction. Considering that Antigravity, Cursor, and even something like Cowork from Claude Desktop — everyone is looking in this direction, so we can expect something decent soon.
