About Firebase Studio

Yesterday, news started spreading that Google showed Firebase Studio. Funny that it's especially active in Android circles, although it has almost nothing to do with Android. I, apparently unlike everyone who posted and is raving about it, went in and poked it with a stick. And it's some kind of disgrace. A monstrously over-engineered disgrace.

The guys are fighting on two fronts. On one hand, it's some kind of replacement for web prototyping tools like v0/Bolt/Lovable. And in this, they just lose completely to any of them. And even more so to any desktop tool, which at least is quite pleasant to control. There can't even be any comparison with Cursor, what are you thinking?

On the other hand, it's also supposedly full-fledged IDEs in a browser. And if VSCode in a browser no longer surprises us, then Android Studio does. Under this noise, they released its Cloud version. Which, good Lord, just runs on some remote Linux machine through VNC. It lags shamelessly, the image is 10 shackles out of 10. It starts up once in a while. But I give it a like for the stubbornness; my respect for the madness.

I don't need this even for free, even if they pay me, I still don't need it.
