First Android Meetup: Recap

First Android Meetup: Recap

Yesterday we held our first Android meetup. I liked it.

For the first time I was on the other side of all these events. Thanks to our devrel Anton and everyone helping him for all organizational moments, didn't have to worry about that at all.

But still worried about other things, the last days were quite tense. Was almost single-handedly the program committee, fortunately all speakers (Ilya, Chingis, Lyosha) were great and I was confident in everyone. Helped a bit with preparation and generally throwing ideas. And in the end also worked as a host. This is all new experience for me. In some way it's even easier to be a speaker, because you're concentrated on your topic and you're not too worried about the whole event as a whole.

Funny moment, if you participate in preparing a talk, it inevitably adjusts to your interests and tastes, so I personally was interested to listen to them all in the final version. The difference from rehearsals is huge, of course.

An interesting insight remained that we apparently have some underestimated resource and we can fill registration for several dozen people literally in a day by reposting the announcement through our channels and chats. It's clear that for us this is some new undertaking and many came at least just to support, but this can clearly be used. There's interest in the local community if there's some cool Android agenda.

It seems it turned out really good, and the guys told the talks well in the end, the topics turned out not the most banal. And we had a great chat, I took away several thoughts to think about. I'd only like to have a recording in the future, but let's consider yesterday's meetup a successful hypothesis check. Thanks again to everyone who came, thanks to everyone for the feedback. 🙂
