May 28. Bereke Android Chapter Meetup #1

Spoke yesterday at the office of guys from Bereke Bank at an internal Android meetup as the only invited guest. Such an honor, I even felt my own importance. For them it's the first such meetup, glad to support a good initiative.

I talked about how naively and crudely we collect technical metrics from our project, and why we're ok with this. Although it's about reinventing the wheel in some sense, I even liked my own presentation. It's light, but triggers thoughts in the head that are seemingly relevant to everyone, but rarely does anyone think about this topic.

Being a tech lead you sort of form some strategy, come up with some goals and tasks for the team as a whole, but whether we achieved some result you practically don't understand, you only feel. Like we refactored half the project, so what, and why? Acting on feelings is of course interesting, in some situations like research you can't do without it at all, but when from ticket results you see the impact on metrics, even the most banal ones, it's much more pleasant.

It was a very cozy event, had a nice chat. It would have been even better if I hadn't been dying with a temperature over 38 for two days before this, but that's another story. And thanks for the invitation to their tech lead Vanya, subscribe to him, by the way.
