JetBrains vs Google

While I'm consuming news about both I/O and KotlinConf only from third parties, haven't gotten to the originals, waiting for it to settle. But even just passing by you're amazed at how a company tens of times smaller is beating a giant in terms of content interesting for developers.

With Google I got the impression that they spent the whole year doing nothing but layoffs and trying once again not to screw up in the AI field. And JetBrains seems like they've been saving all this for the last five years to dump it all at once. Especially everything related to Kotlin. However, looking at some features I feel like I'm developing diabetes in real time. 🍨

On the other hand, a significant part of this content is just teasers of the future. And surely from some big ambitions there's a bit more hype now than there will be impressions in reality later. Still fresh are the memories of how bad JetBrains Assistant is, how raw and unnecessary Fleet is, and all that. Talking is a bit easier than reaching a competitive level. Let's hope, it all sounds cool.
