And again salam from Almaty. The second week of vacation was a bit more rushed than the first, thanks to the weather. On Tuesday, Dubai had what seems to be the heaviest rain in decades, and it washed away everything it could. We sat in the apartment all day and didn't even see a single Lambo or Maybach underwater. Like everyone else, we watched impressive reels and TikToks, the only thing we personally witnessed was water flowing down the stairs in the building on all 25 floors from top to bottom, consequences in the form of non-working metro, and roads that need to be swum across.
They say catching rain there is great luck. So let's consider that we're incredibly lucky. Especially since our flight took off and flew from Dubai to Almaty almost without problems. My wife got my whiskey-coke spilled on her on the plane, but they brought a new one, that's all. The airport is overcrowded, queues are huge, most flights are canceled or delayed. Well, lucky that the whole Marina area from our first week got flooded so much that transport there didn't work until our departure. We made it.
This week we lived in downtown ten minutes from Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, so all these days we wandered there with small trips (exits) to nearby attractions. After the downpour, all other places we could have gone to closed, so we didn't really have a choice.
